Being altruistic is a key component to succeeding in the entrepreneurial world. But, at the same time, an individual needs to be passionate, proven, prominent, and persistent with regards to how a business is run. People who practice these traits are individuals who inspire me.

A few months ago I had the opportunity to chat with Nichole Goodyear. And in that conversation, this is what I got:

Being altruistic is a key component to succeeding in the entrepreneurial world.  But, at the same time, an individual needs to be passionate, proven, prominent, and persistent with regards to how a business is run. People who practice these traits are individuals who inspire me.

Recently I chatted with Nichole Goodyear; she fits the criteria of being an entrepreneur/inspiration. Goodyear is known as THE women in new technologies and has exceeded every expectation that anyone has made for her. Yet, last Monday, Goodyear took thirty minutes out of her busy schedule and spent it with me on the phone. Goodyear, I am sure, had hundreds of projects to work on, thousands of phone calls to make, and a million things going through her mind. Yet she stopped and gave me a listening ear, while truly being an advisor to someone who wants to listen and learn. The ability to converse and network with someone like this had an incredible impactful because it made me think…

  • I didn’t just have an opportunity to network; I had an opportunity to think through my own dreams.
  • I had the opportunity to hear the path of a successful entrepreneur.
  • I observed how I could be a mentor for others.
  • I caught the vision of where to watch for new technologies; who are the current business leaders, and so much more.

Goodyear had this altruistic mentality and was willing to chat, help me think, give thoughtful responses, and gave me feedback on the thought processes I have regarding being an entrepreneur. My question now is, how do I move forward to not only take in this knowledge, but also apply it in my future?

You may have been where I am and could shed light on this status. Who have you met that was an inspiration and how did you apply the knowledge they shared?
